Dr Karuna Khatri
B.D.Sc (Hons) Lond
Dr Khatri qualified in 1988 from the renowned Guy’s Dental Hospital, at the University of London, UK, with a first class honours degree. Since then, Dr Khatri has been practicing as a professional dentist in private dental care and has been a business owner for over 15 years.
As part of her continued effort to provide the best care at Dental Pearls, Dr Khatri regularly attends practical education seminars and further education programs, to remain informed as the dental world advances.
Dr Khatri’s work as a dentist has also extended to voluntary service for the global charity ‘Rotary International’, with whom she has co-ordinated efforts in providing dental treatment to patients in India.
Dr Karuna Khatri absolutely thrives on keeping an active lifestyle, when she is not at Dental Pearls, Karuna is busy with her many activities which include gym, reformer Pilates and she has recently taken up Latin dancing classes. Karuna is also skilled at cooking. Dr Karuna Khatri enjoys spending time with her husband and two grown up sons.
Dr Khatri speaks English, Hindi and Gujarati. She is currently studying to be able to provide her patients with orthodontic treatment in the future.
Dr Daniel Hu
Dr Daniel is our most recent team member at Dental Pearls. He was born and raised in the suburbs of Brisbane. He completed most of his education in Brisbane, and subsequently completed his degree in Bachelor of Oral Health, and Graduate Diploma in Dentistry on the Gold Coast over a period of 5 years. Since completing his training,
Dr Daniel has been practicing around Brisbane as a general dentist. Dr Daniel has been interested in becoming a dentist since the age of 14 when he was receiving orthodontic treatment. As orthodontics is his inspiration, Dr Daniel has furthermore attended and completed numerous further education programs in all areas, but particularly orthodontics. He is able to provide his patients with traditional braces, as well as Invisalign and ClearCorrect invisible aligners. Since leaving dental school in 2014, he has furthered his interest in the area of orthodontics by undertaking a number of CPD courses.
As a dentist, he is looking to change the way people feel about dentistry and attending the dental surgery. Visiting the dentist can be daunting, but Dr Daniel aims to provide quality treatment in a calm and gentle approach. Dr Daniel is very thorough and will ensure you receive optimal care. Some of his outstanding qualities include an overall enthusiasm for furthering his education in all aspects of dentistry; an understanding of patients’ individual needs and a caring and gentle chair side approach.
One of Dr Daniels’ main focuses is that he is able to communicate with his patients in an easily relatable way so the patient understands what is being discussed at all times.
Outside of work/dentistry, Dr Daniel enjoys a relaxed lifestyle. He’s young at heart and still loves to play video games and board games. He’s recently also acquired a corgi puppy and regularly spends time with him and takes him out regularly.
Dr Daniel speaks English, Mandarin and Japanese, and is available for bookings on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday mornings.
Dental Hygienist / Oral Therapist
Katie took on the role of Dental Hygienist and Oral Therapist upon completion of her Bachelor’s Degree in 2009, which she undertook at The University of Queensland.
Katie’s ambition has always been to provide the most comprehensive and professional care. Whilst striving to increase oral hygiene standards in general, Katie’s passion is providing treatment and most importantly, dental awareness to all our clients including the younger generation.
Katie’s role as Oral Therapist makes her ideally qualified to discuss the importance of good dental care and treat paediatric patients from four years old up until they reach 18 years of age. Also qualified as a Dental Hygienist, Katie spends the majority of her time attending our adult clientele at their six monthly recall or maintenance appointments. During such appointments, Katie will attend to one or more of the following: professional teeth cleaning and polishing, taking of dental radiographs (x-rays), taking of intra-oral photos for educational and diagnostic purposes along with education and encouragement for continual dental care and management.
Katie is also in charge of the whitening program at Dental Pearls and will be happy to discuss both in-house (zoom) whitening or take-home whitening procedures during your hygiene visit. Katie has also attended some further studies in the area of myofunctional therapy.
Katie is a firm believer in the contribution that sound oral health plays in your overall wellbeing and to this end, works with tireless effort to help you attain optimal oral health standards, while minimising the potential for dental disease. Your hygiene visit will always find Katie with a cheerful and enthusiastic disposition accompanied by a highly skilled and knowledgeable standpoint.
Katie enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves most things active, in particular her love for dancing (Physical Culture) which she trains for on a weekly basis.
Dr Daniel Hu’s Nurse
Some of Angela’s many great loves (after teeth) are cooking, bush walking, reading and travel adventures. Her favourite animals are pigs and dogs (in particular her pet chocolate Labrador “Cadbury”). She has 2 motto’s in life…“everything happens for a reason” and “life is an adventure” by which she lives. Angela has worked in dental practices for the past 30 years.
Front Office Co-Ordinator
Lisa has been working in the dental industry for 11 years as a dental nurse/ front office co-ordinator. She recently moved to the country and in her free time she likes to get out on the water kayaking, visit antique shops, markets and spend time with her animals.
Dr Karuna Khatri’s Dental Nurse
Jess brings over eight years’ experience to Dental Pearls. She completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting in 2012 and has since gained a great deal of experience in all aspects of dental nursing.
Outside of work she loves spending time with friends and family, especially her nephews and niece. She has two cats; Theodore (chocolate Himalayan) and Maximus (blue point rag doll) and a Dog, Rosie (Chocolate Labradoodle).
Jess is a Rugby Union, Marvel, Harry Potter and Star Wars fanatic, and wins hands-down when it comes to Hollywood trivia!
