Have you been considering whitening your teeth to achieve a gleaming smile?
Then read on to discover what the team at Dental Pearls can do to help you achieve your best smile ever.
There are a number of products on the market today that claim to lighten your teeth and remove surface stains. From natural ingredients such as charcoal and coconut oil to active chemical compounds such as peroxide and other bleaching agents, it can be overwhelming to know which option is best for you and for your teeth.
Whilst many off-the-shelf whitening products can help to remove some surface stains caused by coffee, red wine or smoking, they can often damage your tooth enamel and/or gums, leaving you with sensitive teeth that are more susceptible to erosion and long term damage.
That’s why here at Dental Pearls we recommend that you discuss your options with us first before going ahead with any teeth whitening treatment. In terms of both results and safety, there is simply nothing on the market today that compares to the incredible teeth whitening system.
What is Teeth Whitening?
The technology and clinically proven formulations that can whiten your teeth up to an amazing 8 shades lighter. The process involves the dentist applying the active peroxide gel to your teeth in small doses. Blue light is also used to enhance the effectiveness of the active ingredients and speed up the process of whitening. The whitening treatments have been thoroughly tested for many years and are clinically proven to be not only effective but also very safe.
How long does whitening take?
The in-chair whitening treatment takes just one hour to complete, making it the ideal teeth whitening solution for those who lead busy lives, have a big event coming up such as a wedding or graduation ceremony, or for those who simply want to achieve white teeth, fast. You can even come in on your lunch break and return to work with a whiter, brighter smile that is up to 8 shades lighter! In-house whitening is a brilliant option if you have noticed discolouration from smoking, diet (red wine, coffee, chocolate, etc), ageing or from taking some prescription medications.
Do I need to see the dentist before a treatment?
We always recommend that you have a full dental check-up and hygiene (clean) appointment prior to whitening. Prior cleaning will allow for the best results when whitening your teeth and a thorough check-up will allow for any issues to be resolved first. Think of whitening as the finishing touch to your smile!
How much does teeth whitening cost?
At Dental Pearls in Brisbane’s CBD, we offer whitening for an amazing $629. This price even includes a take-home package with custom trays that allows you to top up your white smile to achieve longer-lasting results at home, without the need for more trips to the dentist.
Investing in whitening treatment can be much more effective than doing many repeat treatments at home due to the effectiveness of the whitening during the appointment.
How long does whitening last?
Whitening results can last for a year or more, but the results will depend on your lifestyle diet and oral care. For example, if you whiten your teeth and then start drinking black coffee every day, your teeth will stain and discolour quicker than if you steer clear of coffee and other staining foods and drinks. We recommend avoiding all dark coloured foods and drinks (and smoking) for a week or two after your treatment while your teeth can be more porous and susceptible to staining. If you just can’t do without your coffee, try using a metal or silicone straw so that it avoids your teeth!
Take-home teeth whitening kits
If you decide that you would like to whiten your teeth at home instead, Dental Pearls also offer amazing take-home teeth whitening options by Opalescence. These kits include syringes of whitening gel and custom trays which we will create for you. The at-home kits are really simple to use and also come in a range of varying formulations, with some even suitable for those with sensitive teeth! You can achieve incredible results from whitening at home with the only downside being that the process takes considerably longer than the in-chair whitening.
