A smile makeover is a customised set of treatments designed to enhance the appearance of your smile.
A smile makeover refers to a combination of treatments that are performed to improve the overall appearance of one’s smile. The treatments that you choose will depend on your unique needs and cosmetic goals, as well as the concerns that you would like to address. Read on to find out what a smile makeover can involve, and what types of issues can be addressed…
What concerns can be resolved?
A smile makeover can help to resolve a wide range of issues, including unwanted gaps between the teeth, crooked teeth, chips, cracks, worn down teeth, stains and discolouration. If you have any imperfections that you would like to fix, we recommend that you come in for an assessment so that your dentist can advise you on the procedures that are best suited to your need.
What treatments are included in a smile makeover?
Each patient’s smile makeover is different, but the treatment typically includes a combination of dental implants, Invisalign, crowns and bridgework, teeth whitening, porcelain veneers and the replacement of amalgam fillings.
Dental veneers are often recommended in cases where one has misshapen or crooked teeth, as well as gaps or chips. Dental veneers are made from a very durable porcelain material and are designed to fit over the surface of the teeth, concealing any imperfections.
In the case of misaligned teeth, Invisalign is often a very effective treatment. Clear aligners are used to gradually shift the position of the teeth, and treatment is particularly appealing for those who prefer a discreet treatment to traditional metal braces.
If you are missing one or more teeth, your dentist might recommend dental implants. Implants are a permanent and stable solution to tooth loss, and improve both the form and function of one’s smile. Crowns and bridgework may be done to repair cracked or damaged teeth, while any fillings that need repairing or replacing may also be done as part of a smile makeover.
Whitening treatments are very popular, and can also form part of a smile makeover. Many people notice stains and discolouration develop on their teeth as they age. These stains, which are often caused by highly pigmented foods and drinks, smoking, poor dental care and certain medications, can often be resolved with a professional whitening treatment. We do recommend, however, that you have any oral health issues like tooth decay and gum disease resolved before going ahead with a whitening treatment.
